JEE Mains, NEET Dates Announced; Centre Says Decision On Board Exams Soon

The Ministry of Human Resource and Development on Tuesday announced the fresh dates for Joint Entrance Exam-Mains (JEE-Mains) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Engineering entrance examination JEE will be held from July 18-23, while medical entrance exam NEET will be conducted on July 26, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced today.
The two crucial exams were postponed due to the lockdown imposed in the country to combat COVID-19.
"JEE-Mains will be held from July 18-23, while JEE-Advanced will be held in August. NEET will be conducted on July 26," Mr Pokhriyal said.

The syllabus for JEE Main and NEET 2021 have been curtailed. Pokhriyal urged students to self-study and take the help of digital modes including SWAYAM, Diksha to prepare for entrance exams. With low-connectivity areas, the content will be telecast through SWAYAM Prabha TV, he informed.

JEE-Advanced exam was earlier scheduled to be held on May 17 while JEE-Mains were earlier scheduled from April 5-11 but all exams were postponed due to nationwide lockdown announced to contain the COVID-19 spread. The government is yet to take any decision on dates for the pending CBSE Class 10, 12 board exams, Pokhriyal said. CBSE exam dates would also be announced soon, he said.

While Joint Entrance Exam-Mains (JEE-MAINS) is conducted for admission to engineering colleges across the country, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted for medical colleges.
